Below you will find some basic information about mattresses to get you started.

What kind of mattress should I buy?

The first step is to understand the different types of mattresses available to you. There are three main categories of mattress construction: Innerspring mattresses, Memory Foam mattresses & Gel Memory Foam mattresses, and Latex mattresses.

Innerspring mattresses use coil springs for support. Over the coils, a variety of padding and upholstery provide the mattress a comfortable feel.

Memory foam mattresses, also known as visco-elastic foam, were originally developed by NASA for use on the chairs inside space capsules. Mattresses made of this material mold to your body and provide even support.

Gel Memory Foam mattresses are very similar to memory foam mattresses, except during the manufacturing process they inject gel into the foam to provide extra support and cooling features.

Latex mattresses are also often said to provide a long lifespan (up to 20 years) and allergen resistance. However, some people claim latex mattresses have difficulty blending comfort and support.

What size mattress should I buy?

Once you understand the differences in mattresses, it is important to determine the proper mattress size. Mattresses come in standard sizes and most mattress models are available in all sizes listed below. However, there are exceptions with Twin and Full size mattresses. Select mattresses come in an "Extra Long" version, making the mattress length 80" (5" longer than the standard 75" mattress).

39" x 75"

Full Mattress

54" x 75"

Queen Mattress
